What technology does SpaceChecker use and what are the advantages?
SpaceChecker has a two-way satellite data communication system for the transportation & SCADA industry that provides remote monitoring, tracking and control of all your assets. The SpaceChecker system covers your assets 24/7 throughout Europe, Asia & Africa using L-band geosynchronous satellite communication.
Key advantages of the SpaceChecker satellite technology:
- high quality GEO-stationary satellite network in L-Band
- 1 satellite covers Europe, Africa and Far East
- piggy-back space capacity available as scalable business
- protected spectrum, designed for mobile use
- small modem antennas (omni directional)
- global coordination of frequencies and easy licensing
- very good radio-wave propagation, also in extremely bad weather
- real-time reporting (3-10 seconds)
- permanent network availability
- low cost of ground infrastructure
- customizable product (SOSC - open source modem)
- easy integration of data delivery in company databases and back-office systems
Services on geostationary satellites, which were once shunned as commodities, are now the safest, most attractive opportunity in the satellite sector, looking at the potential of large stable customer bases and clear grow paths. Market projections for fixed satellite services show a growth rate of 11.4% up to 2007 (Merril Lynch Research Estimates) on a global scale.

Which satellites does SpaceChecker use?
In total SpaceChecker is using 5 satellites over 2 different networks:
First satellite network is that from “ESA” (European Space Agency). These satellites give coverage over the pan-European Region.
Second network is the “Express” fleet. Here we use several satellites that are in hot back-up of each other. This give coverage over Europe, Africa & Asia.
Please contact Spacechecker for additional information.
Why do we need to use satellite instead of terrestrial networks?
There is no offer on the market that combines high quality, global coverage and low cost as SpaceChecker does. SMS/GPRS traveling over terrestrial/cellular GSM network infrastructures offer acceptable reliability within the operator’s own network, but imply increased latency, limited coverage pending on region and high costs for international users due to roaming charges. The classical satellite offers are all of acceptable quality but also high cost and do not fit into unattended assets such as trailers, containers and SCADA outposts.

Does SpaceChecker have licenses for all European countries? And what about the East-European countries, the Middle East & Africa?
SpaceChecker has licenses in all European countries and many other countries such as Ukraine and Turkey. For more information on licensing of the SpaceChecker products and services, please contact the SpaceChecker legal department on 0032 16.39.11.10.
